Summary:This paper presents the modal and buckling analysis, and static analysis (i.e., flexural and stress analysis) of simple supported stiffened FG sandwich plates (SFGS) using finite elements. The geometry of SFGS mid-plane kinematics has been modelled by using ABAQUS, which is based on first order shear deformation theory (FSDT). The whole SFGS has been formulated using an eight node serendipity S8R element. Firstly, the natural frequency values of unstiffened FG sandwich plate are validated with available benchmark results. Then, several numerical examples have been illuminated to study the influence of plate thickness, core thickness, and depth and width of stiffener on the natural frequencies, buckling load, central deflection, and Mises stress of the SFGS and discussed in detail.
