Summary:This paper presents a numerical analysis approach of determining fundamental natural vibrations of isotropic and laminated composite plates for simply supported condition with immovable (opposite) edges. In the first part of analysis, the frequency of isotropic and laminated composite plates are determine with FEA and compared with the available literature. The results are found in good agreement. Further, the same approach is applied to calculate vibration behaviour for the two types of composite plates with cracks for different crack length, thickness ratio and fiber orientations.
