Summary:GaFe0.75Mn0.25O3 was synthesized by a sol–gel process. The X-ray diffraction pattern analysis using the Rietveld refinement method indicated that the sample has an orthorhombic structure. Magnetization measurement shows that GaFe0.75Mn0.25O3 has ferromagnetic behavior with TC=212K. Dielectric investigations revealed a temperature independent anomaly at around 255K with frequency dispersion of dielectric constant. The low temperature high-resolution synchrotron data analysis shows that lattice parameters also reveal an anomaly at 225K without a change in the crystal structure. Temperature dependence of dielectric constant (ε′) for GaFe0.75Mn0.25O3 prepared by the sol–gel method at different frequencies. [Display omitted] ► GaFe0.75Mn0.25O3 has been prepared by sol–gel method. ► The Mn substituted GaFeO3 system induced an anomaly in the dielectric constant at around 250 K. ► No ferroelectric hysteresis is observed. ► High resolution X-ray diffraction shows an anomaly in lattice parameters at around 250 K with no crystal structure change.
