Summary:Malignant mesothelioma is a rare and aggressive neoplasm with a median survival of less than 12 months and a 5-year survival rate of less than 5%. Malignant pleural mesothelioma is usually a diffuse disease with male predominance and occurs in the 6th to the 7th decade of life. Sixty-nine to 90% of the cases have environmental or occupational exposure to asbestos. Localized malignant mesotheliomas are very rare with only a few published case reports. We report a case of a 37-year-old woman, a homemaker, with localized malignant mesothelioma which presented as a chest wall tumor and was managed by a multidisciplinary team approach. The patient is currently 24 months post-op and is doing well with no recurrence.
