Summary:Working as an instructional assistant, Downing implements the modalities and strategies that met with the most success in reaching students who had one or more learning disabilities. These strategies gave students the opportunity to be learners in an environment not restricted but enhanced by the cooperation of teachers who participated in creating a curriculum to embrace students with learning disabilities. He presents a compilation of narratives from students whom he worked with during his 21-year career. These students flourished when an academic staff linked as a powerful team of professionals.
