Summary:Climate change represents a major threat to health now and in the future and must be at the forefront of healthcare planning and delivery. Endoscopy has a bigger environmental impact than many other areas of healthcare. Endoscopists and other healthcare professionals should lead the way in healthcare sustainability for the benefit of our patients and the future of the planet. The principles of sustainable healthcare among others may help us reduce the environmental impact of endoscopy and be beneficial for patients. Individual and profession-wide efforts will be needed to progress and achieve this goal.
