Summary:Microstrip antenna for IFF/SSR systems fed by H‐shaped coupling slot is presented in this article.Due to application of H‐shaped slot about 36% reduction of transversal dimension of antenna is obtained as compared to rectangular slot use. Such reduction is desired if the antenna is used in circular array especially on the cylindrical surface. The results of simulations are compared to the results of measurement of fabricated antenna. The antenna shows good parameters: VSWR < 1.5, crosspolar to copolar < −30 dB in both planes, gain > 7 dBi. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
