Summary:The prior version of the four-body Born distorted wave (BDW-4B) approximation is formulated and used to study single-electron capture in H-H and He+-H collisions. The total cross sections are obtained in terms of six-dimensional numerical quadratures at intermediate and high impact energies. The role of dynamic dielectronic correlation is investigated as a function of impact energy. The results of the total cross sections for the post version of the BDW-4B method are also reported and the post-prior discrepancy is estimated. Comparisons of the present results with the available experimental data are made and good agreement is obtained.
