Carbon-chalcogen wires: alkynyltellurolatocarbynes

The reactions of [W( &z.tbd; CBr)(CO) 2 (Tp*)] (Tp* = tris(dimethylpyrazolyl)borate) with LiTeC &z.tbd; CR (R = SiMe 3 , Si i Pr 3 , i Pr, n Bu, t Bu, Ph, C 6 H 4 Me-4, methylimidazol-2-yl) afford the first alkynyltellurolatocarbynes [W( &z.tbd; CTeC &z.tbd; CR)(CO) 2 (Tp*)]. Both th...

Summary:The reactions of [W( &z.tbd; CBr)(CO) 2 (Tp*)] (Tp* = tris(dimethylpyrazolyl)borate) with LiTeC &z.tbd; CR (R = SiMe 3 , Si i Pr 3 , i Pr, n Bu, t Bu, Ph, C 6 H 4 Me-4, methylimidazol-2-yl) afford the first alkynyltellurolatocarbynes [W( &z.tbd; CTeC &z.tbd; CR)(CO) 2 (Tp*)]. Both the W &z.tbd; C and C &z.tbd; C multiple bonds are prone to metal addition as exemplified by treatment with [MCl(SMe 2 )] (M = Cu, Au) to afford the hexametallic complex [W 2 Cu 4 (μ-CTeC &z.tbd; CSi i Pr 3 ) 2 Cl 4 (CO) 4 (Tp*) 2 ] and [WAu(μ-CTeC &z.tbd; CSiMe 3 )Cl(CO) 2 -(Tp*)] which evolves to the unusual hypervalent [WAu(μ-CTeCl 4 )(SMe 2 )(CO) 2 (Tp*)]. The reactions of [W(&z.tbd;CBr)(CO) 2 (Tp*)] with LiTeC&z.tbd;CR (R = SiMe 3 , Si i Pr 3 , i Pr, n Bu, t Bu, Ph, C 6 H 4 Me-4, methylimidazol-2-yl) afford the first alkynyltellurolatocarbynes [W(&z.tbd;CTeC&z.tbd;CR)(CO) 2 (Tp*)] feauring an unsaturated carbon-tellurium spine.
