Summary: | 1-and/or 4-diamantanols are hydroxylated by various species of the genus Rhizopus giving rise to diamantandiols. The GLC method revealed both the species specificity of the organism and substrate specificity in the bioconversion. The effectivity of biotransformation by some species of the genus Rhizopus indicates that the procedure could be used for the preparation of some diamantandiols substituted on tertiary carbon atoms. |
