Summary: | Two pheretimoid earthworms from Rennell Is., Amynthas lavangguanus (Gates, 1959) and Amynthas rennellanus (Gates, 1959) are redescribed from new material and illustrated for the first time. Comparison is made with type-material from the Natural History Museum, London. These two species are reinstated, having been subject to some taxonomic debate as to their placement and having been previously regarded as junior synonyms of Amynthas solomonis (Beddard, 1899) and Amynthas aeruginosus Kinberg, 1867, respectively. |
