Cascadability performance of remote-repeater-based FTTP systems

The cascadability of fibre-to-the-premises systems with remote repeaters using a recirculating loop is experimentally investigated. The system employs standard PON transceivers and is demonstrated for four stages with < 0.5dB power penalty. Moreover, the total timing jitter after four stages with...

Summary:The cascadability of fibre-to-the-premises systems with remote repeaters using a recirculating loop is experimentally investigated. The system employs standard PON transceivers and is demonstrated for four stages with < 0.5dB power penalty. Moreover, the total timing jitter after four stages without clock recovery is shown to be within the IEEE 802.3ah EPON standard specification.
