Summary:In this paper, coupling field model of wind-sand-electricity around transmission line is built to solve mechanism of discharge of transmission line in sandstorm. The model is used to simulated distribution of electric field of transmission line in the condition of strong sand storm happened in Atushi City at March 12, 2006. In the sand-wind-electric field of the transmission line, the peak of electric field strength exceeds the discharge inception. It is considered that corona phenomenon occurs in the sandstorm, which is shown that the proposed method is of efficiency and practicality.
