Summary:The extent of gerontological instruction within Recreation/Leisure Studies (R/LS) curricula was the subject of investigations conducted in 1981 and 1990. The present study, conducted in 2000, is both a follow-up and extension of the previous two works. Using a sample of 102 accreditated departments of R/LS, this study explored the availability and involvement of these academic units in gerontological instruction on their particular campuses. Comparisons to the two previous studies are drawn. A justification for promoting aging-related content in R/LS curricula is provided, as well as recommendations for achieving suggested changes.
