Summary: | There was no significant difference in amount or mode of spore germination of
E. pisi when inoculated on to three pea cultivars of differing susceptibility. There were, however, significant differences in the production of appressoria, secondary hyphae, conidiophores and conidia. Appressoria were formed after 12 h on all cultivars, but secondary hyphae, conidiophores and conidia were not formed at the same time or in equal numbers. No conidiophores were formed on the highly resistant cultivar. Preliminary studies showed the presence of more antifungal activity in the pods and leaves of the resistant cultivars. |
