Summary:A patient, a 37 year-old male, had been symptomless and suddenly suffered from peritonitis. An emergency operation revealed free perforation of ileocolic type Crohn's disease. The perforation in Crohn's disease is a rare occurrence and is usually observed in patient's having had long standing symptoms of the disease or steroid medication. Hawever, a free perforation does occur exceptionally in Crohn's disease to a patient who has exhibited no symtoms as the case shown above. It is stressed that Crohn's disease must be included as one of the cause of perforation.
