Summary:The visualization techniques were discussed and a new visualization technique was developed as a way to overcome the shortcoming of the traditional one. The technique incorporates the CAD model of a casting to represent the outline of the casting in a transparent way, in which lighting models can be used for better effects. For the interior part of the representation, the data from the simulation results is used. Graphic synthesizing technique is used to combine the CAD model and the simulation results for the final effects of the visualization process. The applications of the technique show that the three-dimensional simulation results can be transparently visualized within a smooth outline shape of the casting, and the quality of the presentation is improved greatly compared with the traditional technique of three-dimensional outline drawing from the grid data.
