Summary:•Perfluorinated carbohydrate d-glucose synthesis using a green C-glycosylation.•Removing possible.•Ability to fill pores responsible of the optical effect of blanching (SEM-EDX experiments).•The need of chemical compounds for painting restoration, especially for the under-explored blanching.•More active than the reference (already described DC6G900) by decreasing the brightness. Starting from the renewable, low-cost and easily available feedstocks, perfluorinated carbohydrate-based molecules and oligoamide/acrylic/silicon-based fluorinated molecules are synthesized and evaluated for easel painting restoration using their good hydrophobic properties. Prepared mock-ups were analysed before and after treatments by FEG-SEM for morphological changes, spectro-colorimetric analysis for surface color variation and reversibility treatments were measured by SEM-EDX. Compared to DC6G900 as the reference, C-Glc-OH, a perflurinated β-dglucopyranose might be a promising agent for blanching easel painting restoration. [Display omitted]
