Summary:Catalyst-free Clasien rearrangement of allyl phenyl ethers were investigated in near-critical water. The effects on the reaction in near-critical water and conventional conditions were compared. The results demonstrate that near-critical water could greatly accelerate the Claisen rearrangement of allyl phenyl ethers. This process is simple, fast, efficient and environmentally benign.
