Summary:The European Atlantic empires did not develop in isolation but rather under a constant dialogue. A dialogue that took place from the very beginning of the European presence in the America but that intensified during the last half of the eighteenth century, when these empires underwent processes of deep reforms. The aim of the present paper is to offer an analytical framework which could be used as a device in order to navigate the complexities of this imperial dialogue.
