Summary: | Luminescent properties of CaS phosphors activated by copper and fluorine have been investigated. When the contents of Cu and F were 1 and 10 at%, respectively, two emission bands were observed in photoluminescence (PL) spectra of the phosphor at 19 K. It was found that both emission bands are attributed to the Schön-Klasens type recombination, although the decay times of these emission bands are significantly different from each other. The acceptor levels in both emission bands are estimated to be located at about 1.37 and 1.67 eV above the valence band edge. It was also found that there were at least three traps located about 0.15, 0.4 and 1.0 eV or more below the bottom of the conduction band. |
