Summary:This interactive system allows the Fourier expansion of functions which are presented in an analytic and tabular form. These expansions may be fulfilled not only by trigonometric series but also by classes of orthogonal polynomials (Chebyshev, Legendre, etc.) which are used in physics and engineering. This permits us to work with harmonics, find partial sums and to compare them with the original function. The Fourier method based on an expansion of source functions (boundary conditions, etc.) is used for solving many physical and mathematical problems (Dirichlet problem, etc.; the number of problems in the system is growing and will be very numerous) and allows a clear investigation of many rather complicated problems. Facilities such as graphics, tables, reference information permit us to use this system for scientific investigations as well as for education. The program code is Pascal, the operational system is MS-DOS.
