Summary:A linear relation is discovered between 1n J and 1/ T (where J is the nucleation rate at temperature T in K) for homogeneous nucleation from the analysis of experimental data and is explained for water nucleation on the basis of classical nucleation theory. Nucleation theory is then combined with experimental homogeneous nucleation rate data to yield a temperature-dependent sticking coefficient, β( T), for water. It is found from this study that there exists a strong linear relationship between 1n β( T) and T.
