Power series solution to the longitudinal modes of LD-pumped uniform fiber Bragg grating laser at threshold

Longitudinal modes of a laser-diode-pumped uniform fiber Bragg grating laser at threshold are analyzed by employing a power series solution to the coupled-mode equations, wherein an exponentially decreasing modal gain profile is assumed. Comparisons made with the uniform gain results indicate that t...

Summary:Longitudinal modes of a laser-diode-pumped uniform fiber Bragg grating laser at threshold are analyzed by employing a power series solution to the coupled-mode equations, wherein an exponentially decreasing modal gain profile is assumed. Comparisons made with the uniform gain results indicate that the effects of nonuniform gain on the lasing mode characteristics due to side pumping configuration are greatly tempered by the distributed-feedback mechanism of the grating laser.
