Long range ordering observations by high resolution x-ray fluorescence spectroscopy

High Resolution X-Ray Fluorescence has been used to probe the electron structure for two aqueous systems that exhibit long range ordering: ZnCl 2(aq) and K 2S(aq). The ZnCl 2(aq) system at high solute concentrations Cl Kβ spectral broadening indicative of long range ordering. The K 2S(aq) system exh...

Summary:High Resolution X-Ray Fluorescence has been used to probe the electron structure for two aqueous systems that exhibit long range ordering: ZnCl 2(aq) and K 2S(aq). The ZnCl 2(aq) system at high solute concentrations Cl Kβ spectral broadening indicative of long range ordering. The K 2S(aq) system exhibits essentially no S Kβ spectral change as K 2S(s) is dissolved in water at low solute concentrations indicating very little dissolution of this compound under normal conditions.
