Summary:The number of nominations for transboundary world heritage properties has increasingly grown in the context of global integration. At the same time, some scholars who are interested in it have conducted related researches on transboundary properties. However, no comprehensive literature review covering studies on transboundary world heritage properties is available. A systematic literature review based on 79 relevant articles retrieved from Web of Science and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) databases was conducted in this paper to increase the richness of transboundary world heritage research. Firstly, quantitative research was conducted, and yearly quantity, theme, content and study area of the published literature were analyzed. Secondly, significant progresses and achievements in the research on transboundary world heritage properties were classified and summarized. Finally, eight critical scientific issues to be solved and the orientation of future research were presented in this study in consideration of the existing research on transboundary world heritage properties.
