A comparison study for mass attenuation coefficients of some amino acids using MCNP code

In this study, a novel model of MCNP4C code reported recently was used to determine the photon mass attenuation coefficients of some amino acids at energies, 123, 360, 511, 662, 1170, 1280 and 1330 keV. The simulation results were compared with the XCOM data. It was indicated that the results were h...

Summary:In this study, a novel model of MCNP4C code reported recently was used to determine the photon mass attenuation coefficients of some amino acids at energies, 123, 360, 511, 662, 1170, 1280 and 1330 keV. The simulation results were compared with the XCOM data. It was indicated that the results were highly close to the calculated XCOM values. Obtained results were used to calculate the molar extinction coefficient. All the results showed the convenience and usefulness of the model in calculation of mass attenuation coefficients of amino acids.
