The Turn-off Point of Omega Centauri

Photoelectric and photographic photometry to below V = 19 in the globular cluster ω Cen indicate that the main sequence turn-off point occurs at about V = 18.3, nearly four magnitudes below the horizontal branch. ω Cen thus differs from most other clusters which have been studied, since this magnitu...

Summary:Photoelectric and photographic photometry to below V = 19 in the globular cluster ω Cen indicate that the main sequence turn-off point occurs at about V = 18.3, nearly four magnitudes below the horizontal branch. ω Cen thus differs from most other clusters which have been studied, since this magnitude difference is usually near 3.4 mag. Some implications are discussed briefly.
