Cooling of a closed superconducting magnet system of the "Kristall-2" torsatron

The work describes a superconducting magnet system (SMS) of a complicated stellarator-type (torsatron with no longitudinal field winding) spatial Configuration that consists of three helical and two axisymmetric poles. Summary:The work describes a superconducting magnet system (SMS) of a complicated stellarator-type (torsatron with no longitudinal field winding) spatial Configuration that consists of three helical and two axisymmetric poles. The main difficulty in constructing the system lay in obtaining a high current density for limited helical pole dimensions in vacuum with a ∼ 2 Ho field, where Ho is the field intensity in the centre, at a stored energy of 1 mj.
