Summary:The report presents the evolution of practical theology in the francophone province of Quebec, as well as in the city of Ottawa (Canada). It sketches the historical context of the last half-century in terms of society, Church, and academia. The main features of the theological faculties are evoked and the contributions of individual theologians over the last 10 years are summarized. Quebec's example illustrates the difficulty for practical theology to maintain its position in government-funded universities, at the service of both Church and society, in a context which has become highly secularized and which provides religion as a whole with bad press.
