New absorption bands and isotopic studies of known transitions in CO

Several new absorption bands of the a′ 3 Σ + − X 1 Σ + and e 3 Σ − − X 1 Σ + transitions in CO have been observed and analyzed. Vibrational levels of both the a′ 3 Σ + and e 3 Σ − states are now known to within 0.4 eV of their dissociation limits. Isotopic bands of 13 C 16 O in natural abundance hav...

Summary:Several new absorption bands of the a′ 3 Σ + − X 1 Σ + and e 3 Σ − − X 1 Σ + transitions in CO have been observed and analyzed. Vibrational levels of both the a′ 3 Σ + and e 3 Σ − states are now known to within 0.4 eV of their dissociation limits. Isotopic bands of 13 C 16 O in natural abundance have been analyzed for both transitions. The vibrational numbering of the e 3 Σ − state must be increased by one unit. New bands of the I 1 Σ − − X 1 Σ + and D 1 Δ− X 1 Σ + transitions are also reported.
