Propagule density of VA-mycorrhizal fungi in semi-arid bushland in Somalia
VAM propagule densities of clay soils from bushland in various stages of degradation and from cultivated areas were determined using the most probable number method. The use of Cucumis sativus, Acacia nilotica and Leucaena leucocephala as host plants in the assays was compared, proving C. sativus to...

Summary: | VAM propagule densities of clay soils from bushland in various stages of degradation and from cultivated areas were determined using the most probable number method. The use of
Cucumis sativus,
Acacia nilotica and
Leucaena leucocephala as host plants in the assays was compared, proving
C. sativus to give the highest propagule counts. Associations of vegetation with a high degree of cover showed higher propagule densities than degraded bushland and cultivated areas. The subsoils showed very low VAM propagule counts in all samples. |
