Selective oxidation of methylarenes with pyridinium chlorochromate

A simple and selective method for oxidation of methyl-arenes, using pyridinium chlorochromate (PCC) is described. This reagent can efficiently oxidize methylarenes to the corresponding aldehydes under mild aprotic conditions.
