Summary:Abstract Flexible resources are a critical resource in ensuring the security and steady running of a large percentage of electricity systems that use new sources of energy. The power system’s flexible resources participate in power regulation, improving the power system capability to absorb new energy and also the electricity system’s reliability. This paper calculates the dependability index of electricity system using the basic calculation method of the equivalent energy function. By flexibly handling the new power generation curve’s adjustable capacity and flexible resources, new energy generation and flexible resources count toward equivalent energy calculation, and the dependability index of the electricity system is calculated. The efficacy of this approach is illustrated by an example.
