Summary:Sustainable development is widely understood as development that is environ-mentally sustainable. Environmental sustainability is crucially important given the serious nature of the ongoing climate change, but it is not the only component of sustainable development as indicated by a broad range of SDG goals. Other important factors need to be considered in the context of sustainable development beyond environmental sustainability, such as social justice (including anti-corruption drive), global and local economic equity, and just taxation. This special issue, composed office articles presented at the 2023 Law and Development Seminar, addresses these other elements, as well as environmental sustainability
