Stress-distribution in the alveolar bone

Summary: | A method using photoelastic procedures has been described for the detection of stresses in the alveolar bone. An evaluation of the magnitude of the stress concentrations in a section of a tooth socket is given and the result compared with the known physical properties of the tissues concerned. The comparison reveals that these tissues are well able to cope even with maximum exertions, Additional photographs of fringe-patterns of socket-sections and whole alveolar arches are included. |
