Synthesis of Nanotubular Nickel Hydrosilicates and Nickel-Magnesium Hydrosilicates under Hydrothermal Conditions

The kinetics of formation of nanotubes based on hydrosilicates in the series Mg^sub 3^Si^sub 2^O^sub 5^(OH)^sub 4^-Ni^sub 3^Si^sub 2^O^sup 5^(OH)^sub 4^ with a chrysotile structure under hydrothermal conditions is investigated. Summary:The kinetics of formation of nanotubes based on hydrosilicates in the series Mg^sub 3^Si^sub 2^O^sub 5^(OH)^sub 4^-Ni^sub 3^Si^sub 2^O^sup 5^(OH)^sub 4^ with a chrysotile structure under hydrothermal conditions is investigated. The step-by-step path of formation of the nanotubes is revealed. This path is determined by the differences between the nucleation rates of the intermediate and final phases in the case when all the components are contained in the solution in sufficient amounts. It is demonstrated that the rate of formation of nanotubular hydrosilicates depends on the cation type, the composition of hydrothermal solutions, and the temperature.[PUBLICATION ABSTRACT]
