Summary:Results of studies of the radiation stability of polymethylphenylsiloxane (PMPS) varnish—a promising binder for application in coatings of space vehicles—are presented. The kinetics of changes in the reflection spectra and solar absorptance of the initial varnish and varnish modified by SiO 2 nanoparticles after irradiation by electrons with energy E  = 30 keV has been investigated. The influence of accelerated electrons on PMPS is modeled. It is shown that the varnish modification leads to an increase in the radiation stability by 1.6 times at an electron fluence of 7·10 16  cm –2 .
