Summary:The main objective of this work is the assessment of hot tearing susceptibility of the elements of the steel casting flange, which is subject to the formation of hot cracks on the inside. The calculation is carried out according to the developed methodology for assessing the hot tearing susceptibility of the casting elements from the position of solving the mechanical problem in the process of crystallization of the casting metal. The simulation of the temperature distribution during solidification of the cast was performed using computer software. Due to the uneven cooling of various parts of the casting, tensile stresses arise, which lead to the appearance of hot cracks. The analysis of the hot tearing susceptibility of the elements of the casting flange confirmed the possibility of the formation of hot cracks on the inner ring of the casting, which made it possible to develop measures to eliminate them. It is necessary to change the temperature–time regime of pouring, and equalization of the temperature difference between the outer and inner contour to ensure directional solidification.
