Summary:A new β -ionone, litulipiferic acid ( 12 ), was isolated from the leaves of Liriodendron tulipifera (Magnoliaceae). The structure of the new β -ionone was elucidated by chemical and physical evidence. The anticancer effect of compounds 1–3 , 5 , 6 , and 8 on A375 cells exhibit a dose-dependent behavior. When cells were exposed to epitulipinolide diepoxide ( 8 ) at 100 μM, the data exhibited viabilities of less than 25% after 24 h of treatment.
