Summary: | In situ stress is a key controlling factor of coal mine water inrush and thus research on modern in situ stress fields is of great significance for the prevention and control of coal mine water inrush. In this paper, the modern in situ stress of the Kailuan mining area in China was determined and analyzed. In particular, we evaluated variations in in situ stress with depth, in situ stress field direction, and the lateral pressure coefficient, as well as variations in permeability with in situ stress and depth. Based on hydraulic fracturing theory, the results implied that in situ stress controlled water inrush through the relationship between water pressure and rock mass fracture pressure, as well as the relationship between water pressure and the minimum principal stress. Based on these observations, we evaluated the water inrush risk of the no. 12 and no. 12-2 coal seam floors of the Fangezhuang and Donghuantuo Mines, respectively. |
