Preparation and Characterization of a µ-P2O7-µ-HPO4 Dinuclear Fe2(III, III) Complex

The [{Fe(Me3tacn)}2(µ-P2O7)(µ-HPO4)]·12H2O dinuclear Fe2(III, III) complex was prepared. The HPO42− bridge in the complex arises from hydrolysis of the pyrophosphate bound to the Fe(III) centers in the trinuclear [{Fe(Me3tacn)}3(P2O7)2]+ intermediate. Electrochemical reduction of this complex at pH...

Summary:The [{Fe(Me3tacn)}2(µ-P2O7)(µ-HPO4)]·12H2O dinuclear Fe2(III, III) complex was prepared. The HPO42− bridge in the complex arises from hydrolysis of the pyrophosphate bound to the Fe(III) centers in the trinuclear [{Fe(Me3tacn)}3(P2O7)2]+ intermediate. Electrochemical reduction of this complex at pH <3.2 results in dissociation of the H2PO4− bridge.
