Summary: | This paper presents two novel control strategies for single-phase to single-phase cycloconversion. The proposed half wave symmetry variable firing angle method (HWSVFAM) and quarter wave symmetry variable firing angle method (QWSVFAM) offer enhanced fundamental component at low total harmonic distortion (THD). Complete mathematical relations for input side performance indices (distortion factor, displacement factor and power factor) and output side performance indices (fundamental component and THD) are developed for the analysis of proposed schemes and comparison with the existing strategies. Results of the simulation have been validated with the mathematical equations and the superiority of the proposed schemes is confirmed. [PUBLICATION ABSTRACT] |
