The ESR Spectra of 2- and 6-Methoxyazulene Anion Radicals

The electron spin resonance spectra of 2- and 6-methoxyazulene anion radicals have been examined. The radicals were generated from neutral species either by electrolytic reduction in N,N-dimethylformamide or by the reduction with alkali metals in ethereal solvents. The experimental splitting constan...

Summary:The electron spin resonance spectra of 2- and 6-methoxyazulene anion radicals have been examined. The radicals were generated from neutral species either by electrolytic reduction in N,N-dimethylformamide or by the reduction with alkali metals in ethereal solvents. The experimental splitting constants are explained satisfactorily in terms of the calculated spin densities by McLachlan’s procedure.
