Summary: | In an extensive search program towards development of new hepatoprotective agents, a series of novel benzofluorenones have been synthesized. These newly synthesized benzofluorenone derivatives exhibited protection against carbon tetrachloride (CCl4)-induced hepatotoxicity. This activity was estimated by levels of biochemical parameters such as aspartate aminotransferase (AST), serum alanine transferase (ALT), serum alkaline phosphatase (SALP) and total proteins (TP) carried out by using regular assay kits.
