Summary:This paper aims to study the endoprosthesis of a patient from the perspective of clearance between the hip bone and the implant. The implant was made with biocompatible titanium Ti-6Al-4V ELI through the additive manufacturing technique known as SLM. FEA was done in ABAQUS to study the stress distribution in the prosthesis with and without the clearance between the bone and the implant. Various loading scenarios were simulated, and the devastating scenario was identified to study the fatigue life safety factor of the prosthesis. The study shows that the clearance plays a pivotal role in the functionality of the implant, and can also become the reason for the deviation from its intended operation contributing towards the revision of the prosthesis.
