The experimental determination of vibrational transition moments for N2—HF and OC—HF

Rovibrational transitions of OC—HF and N2—HF have been measured using vibrational predissociation spectroscopy in a molecular beam apparatus with a color-center laser. Analysis of the laser fluence dependence in the saturation limit yields vibrational transition moments of 0.139(6) and 0.091(5) D fo...

Summary:Rovibrational transitions of OC—HF and N2—HF have been measured using vibrational predissociation spectroscopy in a molecular beam apparatus with a color-center laser. Analysis of the laser fluence dependence in the saturation limit yields vibrational transition moments of 0.139(6) and 0.091(5) D for the HF subunit in OC—HF and N2—HF, respectively. These values are compared with other molecular properties associated with the two binary complexes to characterize the role of the hydrogen bond.
