Full multiplicity distributions for e +e − → hadrons and the modified negative binomial distribution

Multiplicity distributions for negatively charged particles in e +e − → hadrons measured by the ALEPH, DELPHI and OPAL Collaborations at √ s=91.2 GeV, with the combined statistics of 200 000 events, and those obtained at lower energies are perfectly described by the modified negative binomial distri...

Summary:Multiplicity distributions for negatively charged particles in e +e − → hadrons measured by the ALEPH, DELPHI and OPAL Collaborations at √ s=91.2 GeV, with the combined statistics of 200 000 events, and those obtained at lower energies are perfectly described by the modified negative binomial distribution with the generating function M(x)={ [1+Δ(1−x)] [1+r(1−x)]} 7 with two parameters Δ and r. Possible models of branching processes leading to this distribution are discussed.
