The first example of this was a communication I had with a friend (who is a graduate chemist) who had invasions of ants in his garden every year. Because he was a cat owner he was wary of using baits or spraying their nests and boiling water slowed them rather than eradicated them. [...]a solution that gets to the heart of the problem, and tastes delicious too. [...]it's been shown to be so powerful that Mensa International and other High IQ societies have BANNED their members from using it!' All these messages are accompanied with pictures of people in white coats standing in a laboratory in an attempt to convince the gullible that there is science in the claims. All those in the pesticide industry will admit that mistakes were made sixty or so years ago, but as evidence of potential hazards have arisen, the products developed and registered have become safer to all - the operator, the food processor, the food retailer, the consumer, the environment and non-target organisms.
