BER validation of ring-doping cladding-pumped EDFAs for dense WDM applications

Two amplifiers having similar performance in terms of gain, output power and noise figure were compared by means of back to back bit error ratio (BER) analysis. BER measurements were performed on 10 Gbit/s modulated signal passing through the amplifier under test. Results of the BER measurements sho...

Summary:Two amplifiers having similar performance in terms of gain, output power and noise figure were compared by means of back to back bit error ratio (BER) analysis. BER measurements were performed on 10 Gbit/s modulated signal passing through the amplifier under test. Results of the BER measurements showed that ring-doped cladding-pumped amplifiers are suitable for use in dense WDM systems.
